Prep For Your Engagement Session

I cannot wait for this session! Not only will you get some beautiful photos to use on your save the dates, Invitations, and wedding thank you cards, but we also get to hang out!! I have pulled together some helpful tips for you to have the best experience and the most fun.

1. I recommend scheduling the session 1.5 – 2 hours before sunset. This allows us to get the best light and the photos turn out SO dreamy when the sun begins to drop below the treetops.

2. Research your location. I can help with this of course, but if you’re going for a specific vibe check it out before-hand online or in-person to make sure it will fit what you’re imagining. Here are some of my fav spots:

   • Metea County Park – north Fort Wayne

   • Lakeside Park + Rose Garden – near downtown Fort Wayne

   • The Landing – downtown Fort Wayne

   • Buckner Park – west Fort Wayne

3. For your outfit choices, try to stick with pastels, cool colors, neutral tones, and avoid clothing with busy patterns. Overly bright colors and busy patterns can become the focus of the photograph, but we we want the focus to be on your love and happiness with one another!

4. Bring an outfit change! Most of my couples bring one casual outfit and one that’s a little fancier. Plan these outfits out in advance and try everything on about a week out from your session to be sure it all looks nice together and you feel comfortable.

5. Don’t forget to iron your clothes if they need it! Although I can do a lot of editing on the backend, wrinkles are nearly impossible to hide in a photo.

6. Wear clothes that you’re comfortable in physically and mentally. There’s nothing worse than a shirt that doesn’t fit right, or a dress that is so itchy you can’t wait to take off. But also, if you aren’t feeling like yourself in your clothes you won’t enjoy the session as much. Plan your clothes around your personalities, not what Pinterest says you should wear. If your “fancy” outfit is khakis and a summer dress, PERFECT or if its a suit and an evening gown, that’s great too! Just be yourselves and have fun with it! 🙂

7. If you and your lover are new to professional photos, don’t stress! Don’t worry about where to put your hands or when to smile, just come ready to have a great time and I’ll do the rest. If all else fails, there’s nothing like a beverage of choice to take the edge away 😉
