The first thing I’ll do when I arrive (after saying hello and gushing about how excited I am for you) is photograph your beautiful details. The morning runs much smoother if all items are together and ready for me upon my arrival. Some items I will need to photograph are rings (all 3), invitations, ceremony program, garters, shoes, hair pieces, dress, veil, suit, tie, grooms shoes, cuff links. If you have anything sentimental that you would like photographed please throw them in there. I recommend a shoe box or small bag that you keep all of these things in, it is easier to handle than a bunch of loose items.
The location and lighting really defines the look and mood of every photo, and this is also true for you + your grooms getting ready locations. Hotel rooms are notorious for terrible yellow lighting, consider renting a cute Airbnb, or getting ready at a family or friends house that has a nice open room with lots of windows. If you are getting ready in a hotel room, have your makeup + hair stylists setup right next to the window instead of in the bathroom, this helps to avoid having the toilet in the background of your images :). Windows are the most important part – soft, natural light makes all the difference! That way you look as radiant as you are, instead of washed out and yellow.
Photos of when you’re getting ready can be some of the best images! There’s just something about the pre-wedding jitters of “this is it”, and special moments with your closest babes. With that being said, it makes the images look so much cuter if you get something cute to get ready in, whether that’s a cute PJ set (wear a button down so you can change without messing up your hair + makeup), or cute matching robes with your girls. The possibilities are endless!!
